Everything you need to know to enjoy your first horseback riding tour in the Alt Empordà
Are you attracted to the idea of horseback riding but have never done it before? Are you a little hesitant or unsure whether you'll be able to ride it properly? Don't worry! Equestrian tourism is designed for you too. At our center in Alt Empordà (Girona), every day we accompany people who are getting on a horse for the first time... and who finish the route with a smile and the desire to do it again.
This guide is designed to help you take that first step with confidence, security, and enthusiasm.
1. Is previous experience required? No, not at all!
Beginner routes are designed so that anyone can enjoy, even without having ever ridden.
Our horses are trained to be calm and obedient, and before we begin:
- We explain how to set it up, steer it, and communicate with it.
- We do a little practice to get you comfortable.
- Throughout the entire route, we accompany and guide you step by step.
2. What do I need to bring? Practical tips
Horseback riding doesn't require any special equipment, but there are some recommendations that will make your experience more comfortable:
Clothes:
- Long pants (preferably tight or leggings type).
- T-shirt or sweatshirt depending on the season.
- Clothing that allows you to move freely.
Footwear:
- Closed boots or sneakers with flat soles.
- Avoid sandals, flip-flops or high-heeled shoes.
Others:
- Sunscreen and a cap if it's sunny.
- Water (although we can also provide it for you).
- Camera or mobile phone for photos… but keep it well protected during the route!
We provide you approved helmet and all the necessary material.
3. Is horse riding safe? Yes, if done properly.
Safety comes first. That's why:
- Each route has a limited number of people per guide.
- We choose the most suitable horse according to your profile.
- The routes are pre-planned and adapted to the group's level.
In addition, we always give you clear and simple instructions so you know how to act at all times.
4. What does it feel like to ride for the first time?
The most common thing is to start off a little nervous… and end up excited and eager to do it again.
Horse riding is a mixture of sensations:
- You feel free and connected with nature.
- You have to trust yourself and the animal.
- You discover a different rhythm, slower, more authentic.
It is a very different experience from any other excursion or tourist activity.
5. Where to do it? In the heart of the Alt Empordà nature.
Our center is located in a privileged setting in the Alt Empordà, surrounded by fields, forests, and rural roads. Here you can experience your first equestrian experience away from the traffic, noise, and crowds.
We offer routes:
- 1 hour, to start without stress.
- 2 hours, if you feel comfortable and want to see more scenery.
- Adapted to children, families or groups of friends.
